What are the Subgrids Game Options?

Information about setting up your customized game with Game Options.

In the world of Subgrids, no two games need to play out the same way. That’s because every match is shaped not just by your skill, but by the Game Options you choose before you hit “Start.” These customizable add-ons inject flavor, chaos, and unexpected twists into gameplay—turning a solid strategy into a thrilling, sometimes unpredictable ride.

What Are Game Options?

Game Options are extra elements you can add to your customized Subgrids experience. Think of them as special rules or tools that shake up traditional gameplay. One of the most popular examples is Project U.F.O.—a quirky option that lets players summon a UFO mid-game. But don’t expect a guaranteed win: much like a last-second Hail Mary in football, the results can go either way. It could save your match—or crash and burn.

The beauty of these options is that you choose how wild or refined your game becomes. Love strategy? You might want to keep things clean and simple. Prefer surprise attacks and chaos? Activate a few curveball options and let the mayhem unfold.

Where to Find Game Options

You’ll find the main list of Game Options on the right side of your MY ACCOUNT page. There, you can check the boxes next to the options you want to include in your game setup. Simple as that. There are also more light-hearted or cosmetic options available under the Settings page—like customizing your timer, or toggling playful features such as Sub Toggle or Map Shot.

A Balance of Strategy and Spontaneity

Subgrids isn’t meant to be a pure strategy game like Chess. Chess is 100% logic—methodical, deliberate, and sometimes long-winded. Subgrids, on the other hand, aims to balance strategy with spontaneity. A standard game wraps up in about 12 minutes, and there's never a tie. It’s fast, fun, and always moving.

If you're a tactical purist, you might opt for a "vanilla" loadout—few or no Game Options, just skill vs. skill. But if you're in it for laughs, surprises, or to watch your friends scream when the UFO turns on them, load up on the options. Subgrids is built to accommodate both playstyles.

Strategy vs. Chaos—You Decide

Keep in mind: once the game starts, your selected Game Options are locked in. That means there’s no turning back. So before hitting play, think about your strategy. Do you want a game that’s speedy and disruptive? One that confuses your opponent? Or one that tests your tactical limits with zero gimmicks?

The right combo of Game Options can make or break a match. And that’s what makes this system so exciting—you’re not just playing a game, you’re designing an experience.

Always Expanding, Always Evolving

The Game Options library is always growing. Some are based on player feedback, while others are tied to seasonal events or limited-time tournaments. Keep an eye on community updates and in-game alerts for the latest additions—what you see today might not be the same next week.

Subgrids is constantly evolving, and the Game Options system is a big part of that evolution. It brings replayability, unpredictability, and personalization to every match. Whether you're going for glory, leaderboard status, or just a good time with friends, your Game Options let you shape the battlefield before the first move is even made.

So take a moment. Explore the list. Choose wisely. And get ready for a game that’s uniquely yours.

Because in Subgrids, strategy is just the beginning.
